This thread has been dyed a soft yellow with weld plant exhaust bath and an alum mordant. It is not as bright as yarn dyed with the first pass through the dyebath. Weld plant has been in use as a dye for millennia, and has the best known light-fastness and wash-fastness of plant based yellows. People see this and have a hard time believing it came from a plant!

This 2-ply thread can be used for to work various types of embroidery (plies NOT separable as with DMC or similar!), weaving narrow goods, eg, tablet weaving, or tapestry, at approx. 30 ends per inch, and also for braiding techniques such as fingerloop or lucet, and other historical and modern fiber arts.
