We've searched high and low for just the right beads to bring you this necklace-- these carnelian and clear quartz beads, alternated with each other, showed up repeatedly in Viking Age graves, but they take some work to acquire in the 21st century world. Only the very clearest of the quartz beads and the strongest red-orange carnelians were selected for this particularly fine rendition.
These beads are not petite. Each is 1/2" to 3/4" long and they graduate slightly in size. They are strung on strong hemp cord with beeswax worked in by hand to condition and protect. The S-clasp is fully detachable from the rings, allowing it to be worn as a necklace, or as a festoon on the front of a Viking-Age reenactment outfit. The beaded part of the strand is 17 3/4" long. Including the rings and clasp, it is 19" long.
This is a bold statement necklace equally suitable for a Viking Age noblewoman or a modern fashionista.
