This 30x30" square silk habotai shawl (or altar cloth, or table cloth, or Tarot reading or rune casting mat) has an elaborate stitch resisted design of various types and sizes of oak leaf on a glorious madder root red ground that mimics the color certain oaks' leaves turn in the autumn. Madder root gives one of the most light-fast and wash-resistant reds available through natural means. The color is warmest and brightest in sunlight, more scarlet, but reads closer to crimson in other lights. The flat scanner images each depict an approximately 8x11" section of the piece. Care for this item by washing by hand with mild detergent and either air drying, or ironing shiny and smooth on the silk setting (about 300* F) while it is still damp.
