Purple and Pink Viking Style Treasure Bead Festoon with Foiled Glass, Lampwork, Amethyst - Norse SCA Medieval LARP
$30.00
Viking Age inspired treasure bead festoons are back! These are designed to hang from the front brooches that hold together the straps of their hangerok or apron-dress of feminine Norse garb of the Viking Age. These are displayed on the chest rather than around the neck, essentially.
These give the general look of such festoons with a slightly more modern color scheme. Many beads are what I call accidental replicas-- mass produced lampwork beads that weren't trying to reproduce Viking Age beads but have very nearly done it anyway. A few are more peri-oid then period. The result are festoons that are a good choice for those that do not want to, need to, or have the ability to purchase or make true replica beads from a specific date and location.
The beads are strung on heavy duty beading wire and attached to silver-plated closed rings about 3/8" in diameter. The length including the rings is about 14 3/4". Eight foiled glass beads-- a technique that is definitely in the historical record-- add little pops of shine. Two amethyst beads help carry the color theme.
