Pearl and Brass Necklace Inspired by Ancient Rome Greece Egypt for Personal Adornment Historical Interpretation SCA LARP Renn Faire
$35.00
We've spent the past few days soaking in the particular beauty of ancient times, and created a group of jewelry pieces that would blend right in to the scenery of ancient Egypt, Greece, or Rome. The choice of stones, the cuts of the beads, the way the gems are paired with gold-tone metal are chosen to evoke a set of times and places that shared a certain aesthetic.
This piece pairs large, slightly irregular, ivory freshwater pearl beads with small brass barrel beads with incised spirals, closes with a hook clasp, and measures about 14.75 inches long. Due to conquests and cultural exchanges, it's appropriate for much of the ancient world, particularly ancient Greece and Rome through all stages of the Empire. The pearls were less popular in Egyptian jewelry until it came under influence and then conquest by the Greek and Roman Empires, but this sort of jewelry was ubiquitous by the time it was a Roman province. It is also appropriate for some parts of medieval and Renaissance Europe. It's extremely versatile and can also be worn with a range of contemporary attire. Consider it your own modern treasure.
