It's been a while since we interpreted the medieval and Renaissance jewelry that got us started! Here's a group of pieces whose components are chosen to evoke a set of times and places that shared a certain aesthetic.
This classic piece showcases fat, ivory glass pearl beads, closes with a simple hook clasp, and measures just about 17 1/2". Due to its simple design and pearls' perennial favor, it's appropriate for a large number of time periods for historical interpretation: the Roman empire, Byzantium, Renaissance Europe, the 1950s, etc. It's extremely versatile and can also be worn with a wide range of modern attire.
Don't think that imitation pearls are ahistorical, either-- recipes for faking it go back several thousand years ;)
