The light yellow green of this thread is a curious sort of color, appearing notably warmer/yellower in sunlight than in the shade or under modern LED light. It has been dyed with the tops of a species of Phragmites that is invasive to North America. Since this has never been used as a dye industrially, we don't have a lot of information on how lightfast or washfast this is.
This 2-ply thread can be used for to work various types of embroidery (plies NOT separable as with DMC or similar!), weaving narrow goods, eg, tablet weaving, or tapestry, at approx. 30 ends per inch, and also for braiding techniques such as fingerloop or lucet, and other historical and modern fiber arts.
The Golden Schelle is on hiatus in order to focus on finishing up our last few commissions and then completely revamp our inventory and website. We are closed to new orders at this time.
