An extremely ancient apotropaic symbol, the "evil eye" talisman is still embedded in many cultures. Said to ward off bad luck and malicious gossip and protect against evil beings, spells, and influences, the "evil eye" has been produced in glass for millennia. The base glass is a transparent, deep blue with contrasting layers of opaque glass forming the eyes. The main pendant is about 1 1/4" tall and the evil eye beads are about 3/8" in diameter. The beads have two eyes apiece, layering in quintuple protection. Recycled glass beads made by Ghanaian artisans in shades of transparent blue and yellow flank the pendant. The undyed hemp cord is long enough for anyone to pull over their head.
