This thread has been dyed a bright, medium green with weld plant and an alum mordant, dyed over an indigo blue base. Weld plant has been in use as a dye for millennia (ancient Roman bridal veils; Turkish carpets; etc), and has the best known light-fastness and wash-fastness of plant based yellows. Indigofera tinctoria from the Indian subcontinent has an equally ancient history as the world's most concentrated and lightfast natural blue dye plant. People see this and have a hard time believing it came from plants!

This 2-ply thread can be used for to work various types of embroidery (plies NOT separable as with DMC or similar!), weaving narrow goods, eg, tablet weaving, or tapestry, at approx. 30 ends per inch, and also for braiding techniques such as fingerloop or lucet, and other historical and modern fiber arts.
