Necklaces in this style were popular in the Roman Empire, where each bead is captured on its own handmade length of chain. The technique also had a revival of popularity during Victorian times. The design is very classic and can be worn with modern attire, historical garb, or even as a subtle nod to Christmas, Yule, etc. The green gem beads are aventurine color enhanced to the searing green associated with chrysoprase, a valued form of "smaragdus" to the Romans, who called all pleasingly green stones this. The petite pearls are snowy white. At 25 1/2 inches, the very slender can double-wrap this and wear it as a choker, but worn singly, it should be a pleasing length on anyone.
The Golden Schelle is on hiatus in order to focus on finishing up our last few commissions and then completely revamp our inventory and website. We are closed to new orders at this time.
