These were made in 2019 CE, but they mimic a style about two thousand years older. Earrings like these are seen in ancient Roman portraits and have been found as artifacts as well. Sometimes it's all pearls; sometimes pearls alternate with another stone. It's a surprisingly practical design, the long, swept back earwire balancing out the weight of the beaded hoop at the front so that they sit comfortably and securely.
This particular version uses round acrylic pearls and pumpkin-orange carnelian disc beads. Following the historical examples, the gold-plated wire is thicker than most modern earrings, about 16g. You should still be able to wear them if you only wear modern earrings, and may find that they are more comfortable than some modern heavy earrings. The weight is supported more comfortably on the thicker wire.
The whole earring is about 1 1/2" tall.
The Golden Schelle is on hiatus in order to focus on finishing up our last few commissions and then completely revamp our inventory and website. We are closed to new orders at this time.
